It is a traditional recipe of Punjab, served with paratha or roti. It is enjoyed by almost everybody. You can use margarine instead of butter.


Chicken 500 gm
Butter 5 tbsp
Tomato puree 1 cup
Onion paste 3 tbsp
Garlic paste 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
Fresh cream ½ cup
Fresh coriander leaves chopped for garnishing


Marinate chicken with salt and 1 tbsp butter for 3/4 hours
Heat 2 tbsp butter in a pan and add onion paste and garlic paste, cook until the spices become brown in colour
Add salt and 1 tsp sugar, add chilli powder and saute well
Add chicken and cover the pan and cook for 15 minutes
When chicken becomes dry, add tomato puree and ½ cup water and cook for 5 minutes
When chicken becomes tender, add cream and butter
